About Me
Like many other dog owners out there, I fell in love with dogs as a child growing up with my mixed breed collie rescue. I spent lots of time exercising and training her and found I had natural way with dogs and not only with my dog, but other peoples dogs as well.
My first ever dog, which was a rescue collie mix
By the time I was a teenager I was not only training my own dog, but was being called upon by friends and family that had a dog that was suffering with behaviour problems for me to come and help.
Lots of time has passed since then and my life took a different direction. Then a few years ago my wife and I decided it was time for our two children to grow up with a dog.
Then we rescued Lara our current Romanian rescue dog, little did I realise that not only was she a rescue, but a rescue that was separated from her birth mother at only one month old. She arrived to us and was seven months old with zero socialisation to anything in the real world.
Needless to say, training began right away. At first trying all positive techniques (treat training), but outside the house Lara was so scared she would shut down or try to escape, even high value treats were not enough to snap the fear.
This was when I began to use correctional training with Lara using a slip lead, and as time passed I noticed huge improvements in Lara and I began helping other dog owners during our walks, often receiving comments from owners asking me if I was a dog trainer. (Which at this time I was not)
I have been a professional trainer of dogs and their owners for years now and have studied dog behaviour and psychology, which I continue to study as I find it fascinating.
Training dogs is my passion and a very natural skill for me.
Seeing great results for other owners with their dogs is so rewarding.
Thanks to Lara for reminding me of my love of dogs.
